Harry Heinemann

Susan Berman honors her uncle Harry Heinemann, who was born in Treuchlingen, Germany, in 1933. After conditions for Jews worsened in Treuchlingen, the family relocated to Munich. His father and brother were arrested on Kristallnacht, but his mother was able to obtain their release with the agreement that they would leave Germany as soon as possible. Six months later, the family, including Harry, moved to the United States.
