Irving Markowicz

Felicia Anchor honors her father’s first cousin, Irving Markowicz, who was born in Czestochowa, Poland. Irving’s father was Felicia’s grandmother Fela’s older brother. He worked as a tailor and a designer. He may have been sent to a slave labor camp during the war, but he was liberated in January 1945 and survived the Holocaust. He later moved to Toledo, Ohio, where he remained for the rest of his life. He married a Catholic woman and raised his children in his wife’s faith.
