Judka Joe Heitler

Esther Loeb and Regina Stern honor their stepfather Judka Joe Heitler, who married their mother Chana Kirszenberg Heitler after he met her at a DP camp in Europe. Judka had seen his first wife and son shot by the Nazis; overnight, his hair became white. He was imprisoned in a concentration camp, probably Buchenwald. Heitler survived the war and moved to Nashville in 1949, where he was active at the Jewish Community Center. He died in Nashville in 1963.
