Matilde Sucher Starkland

Lilian Kittower has honored her mother Matilde Sucher Starkand, who was known as Tilla. She was born in Essen, Germany, on April 29, 1910, and left the county after the Nazis came to power.  After several years in Buenos Aires, Argentina, she relocated to Nashville with her husband. She was involved in volunteer work, Hadassah, and the Council of Jewish Women. The Jewish community recorded an oral history interview with Starkand before she died at age 96.
