Shepsele Minuskin

Tomer Minuskin honors his grandfather’s brother Shepsele Minuskin, who was born in 1937 in Zhetel, Poland. Other names for the town included Zdzieciol and Dyatlovo. Shepsele and his older brother Berale were held in a synagogue that was used as a transfer station where Jews were led away to trucks. Shepsele’s mother held on to her boys with “all her might,” but Shepsele and Berale were taken from her arms by Nazi soldiers. The family never saw them again; both boys died in 1942. Tomer Minuskin notes that “Berale and Shepsele have always been on my mind and I have always talked about them to my family.”
