Lindenberg and Kahane Families

Frances Cutler remembers her parents’ families; her mother’s family name was Lindenberg, and her father’s was Kahane. Many of the Lindenbergs were killed in the Holocaust, including her mother’s sister Malka Lindenberg and her entire family. Eliahu Lindenberg, Cutler’s uncle, was hung by the Germans in Poland when he was only a teenager. Rochelle Lindenberg also perished during the war. Cutler’s maternal grandmother, Sara Lea Stopien Lindenberg, died in Auschwitz. Of the Kahane family, many died during the Holocaust, including Eliahu Kahane, who was killed in Poland.
