Solli Heinemann

Susan Berman honors her paternal grandfather Solli Heinemann, who was born in 1895. When conditions for Jews worsened in Treuchlingen, Solli and his wife Sabina Freiman Heinemann relocated to Munich. He was arrested on Kristallnacht along with his son, Manfred. They were sent to Dachau where they remained for several weeks. Fortunately, his wife Sabina was able to obtain papers to allow them to leave Germany. She presented them to the Gestapo, and they were released with the understanding that they would leave Germany as soon as possible. They left Germany six months later and settled in the United States.
