Elizabeth Limor has honored her brother Gustav Dobrin, who was born in Lódz, Poland, and later spent time in Brussels, Belgium. Before World War II, he had studied chemistry in France. Dobrin survived the war, and eventually worked as a chemist managing a battery company in Waltham, Massachusetts. Elizabeth lived with her brother for a period of time when she first moved to the United States. She remembers always looking up to her brother, and once described herself as her brother’s shadow.
