Faye Serkin and Shirley Speyer honor their parents Ester and Abe Freeman, who were both from Pabianice, Poland. Ester and her sisters were all Holocaust survivors; Ester spent much of the war with her sister Sally, where they worked in an office in Freiberg, keeping airplane building plans in order. After the war, Esther brought the family to Nashville, where she raised her family. Speaking of her sister, Sally Wolkoff says that “she was my better half.” Abe Freeman died in 1999, and Ester died four years later.
