Corinne Bickman is honoring her mother, Pearl Winkler, who was born in Vienna, Austria, and was forced to flee Austria when Hitler rose to power. She was in medical school when she left Austria; she then came to the United States in 1938 with her family. Winkler, who was a wife and mother, died in the United States on January 20, 1993.
