Marion Katz honors her maternal grandmother Rosa Ritter, who was born in Breslau, Germany. She was last seen by a cousin in Berlin around 1941-2; Rosa later died in a concentration camp. Marion remembers seeing her in 1933 when Rosa visited her children and grandchildren in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. Marion’s family left for America in 1938, but Rosa, a housewife, did not want to leave her home. She had been married to Carl-Max Ritter, but he died of natural causes.
