Werner, Hannah, and Leo Rose are honored by Reta Guttman and Norma Neaderthal. Leo Rose was born in Neustadt am Rueberg, near Hannover, Germany, in 1879, and Hannah was born in 1891 in Biebesheim am Main. Fred Goldner, Sr., was first able to get Kurt Rose, their son, out of Germany. He came to Nashville and then took a job in Mississippi. Later, Leo, Hannah and Werner were also able to come to the United States; Paula had previously settled in Washington, D.C. Although some family members were able to escape Germany, others were not so lucky. Leopold Rose lost two sisters at Auschwitz; another family member was sent to a camp at Riga, Latvia; and another committed suicide before being shipped to an extermination camp.
